Certification & renewal management

Stop tracking certifications at the last minute.

For restaurant groups, senior living, healthcare, schools and any organization with several certified managers: Culinary Standard keeps the expiration dates, flags upcoming renewals and coordinates the training before a credential lapses.

The problem

Certificates expire quietly. Inspections don't.

A ServSafe Manager certificate is good for five years, which is long enough for everyone to forget when it was issued. Managers move between locations, leave, get promoted. The spreadsheet stops being updated. Then an inspector asks to see the certificate and the only one on file expired in March.

Jim has managed this from the operator's side. Renewal management exists so an organization with five, fifteen or fifty certified managers can hand the tracking to someone whose job it is to notice, and who can also deliver the training when it is time.

How it works

A recurring relationship, not a one-time class

Maintain the record

Every certified manager, every location, every expiration date in one place that Culinary Standard keeps current.

Flag upcoming renewals

You hear about a renewal months ahead, with enough time to schedule it around your operation rather than around a deadline.

Coordinate the training

Recertification sessions are scheduled, publicly or on site, and the record is updated when the new certificate is issued.

Exact scope, responsibilities and pricing for renewal management are agreed with each organization before the service begins. Contact Culinary Standard to discuss your group.

  • Restaurant groups with multiple locations
  • Senior-living and healthcare food-service operators
  • School districts and childcare organizations
  • Corporate and institutional dining operators
  • Any operation where a lapsed certificate would be a problem tomorrow

What is certification and renewal management?

It is a simple service for organizations with several certified managers: Culinary Standard keeps track of who is certified, when each certificate expires and coordinates recertification training before anything lapses. The aim is that no location is ever caught without a current certified manager.

Who is this for?

Restaurant groups, senior-living and healthcare operators, school districts, corporate dining and any organization with multiple locations or multiple certified managers. If keeping track of expiration dates is currently a spreadsheet someone remembers to check, this is for you.

How does it work with recertification classes?

As certificates approach expiration, Culinary Standard flags them and schedules recertification, either in a public class or as an on-site session for the group. Training and tracking are handled by the same person, so nothing falls between the two.

What does it cost and what exactly is included?

The scope, responsibilities and pricing for renewal management are confirmed for each organization before it starts. Contact Culinary Standard with the number of locations and certified managers you have and you will get a clear proposal.

Does Culinary Standard issue or renew the certificate itself?

No. ServSafe Manager certificates are issued by the National Restaurant Association after a candidate passes the proctored exam. Culinary Standard tracks the dates, delivers the training and administers the exam; the certificate itself comes from the certifying body.
